Tony can help with the following concerns:-

· Low self esteem

· Stress

· Smoking

· Loosing weight

· Palliative care issues

· Symptoms of IBS

Tony doesn’t set out to fix people, indeed the only person who can fix us – is us! Attending for hypnotherapy is as much about what can be achieved away from the therapy session as in it.

Tony is very enthusiastic about training his clients in hypnotic techniques so that they have something to practice for life.

The following are the most common concerns that Tony Has worked with so far.

However, please click on the tabs above for IBS, Smoking, and Palliative Care.

Low Self Esteem

Virginia Satir, a renowned family therapist, said, “Self esteem is the pot nobody watches.” Low self esteem can often spring from a feeling of not being in control. Another symptom can be worrying about what “they” think.

Hypnotic techniques help to draw out the wisdom of the unconscious mind, and start new ways of being that will raise perceptions of higher self esteem.

Stress

Stress can be a symptom of “stuckness”. When we are only consciously aware of one option, we become stuck, trapped in part of our lives, not seeing an alternative way out.

A state of deep relaxation (hypnosis), can access the wisdom of the unconscious mind to release new options, exciting new ideas, attitudes, and activities to be considered without obligation or guilt.

Loosing Weight

The process of slimming is not so much about mind over matter as using mind with matter.

The first step can be to re-establish the neural pathway between mind and stomach, so that we know when we have eaten sufficient.

A second aim can be to establish a conception of a slimming goal that is joyous and compelling enough to work!

Changing our mass and shape will change our way of life. Fear of change can be one reason why diets don’t work.

Tony uses hypnotic and cognitive techniques to draw his slimming clients into their new future.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP is a package of applied psychology techniques based around the improvement of rapport with self and others. Communication and personal development are its corner stones.

Tony uses NLP techniques in his hypnotic work with clients, and he also teaches the subject in Further Education.

Hypnotherapy Biography

Tony came to hypnotherapy through his interest in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). Indeed, he was as skeptical about hypnosis as anyone.

However, he tried a basic course of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy in which he was promised a high content of NLP – and got hooked!

That was in 1997, and Tony went on to achieve an Advanced Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma in 2001 from the National School of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (N-SHAP). The school is registered with the

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). In association with N-SHAP, Tony  belongs to the Central Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists (CRAH). He is bound by the Code of Ethics of the Register.

In 2002 Tony received specialist training from Holistic Resources, an Integrated Heath Care Centre in Lancashire. This involved the use of hypnotic techniques to help those with symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Tony is a member of the Register of Approved Gastrointestinal Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists (RAGPH), a faculty of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists (NRHP), also registered with the UKCP. Tony is a member of the IBS Network.

At the end of 2001 Tony started a “general” practice at the Alternatives Complementary Medical Centre in Shenley Brook End. The range of work includes stopping smoking, self esteem issues, reduction of IBS symptoms, weight reduction and phobias. Tony attends clinical supervision every month.

Holistic Resources launched a new initiative in 2003, the Hypno-Chemo Programme, funded by the Lottery Fund. This was a national audit, with the aim of demonstrating to the NHS and other interested bodies that Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy could help cancer sufferers improve their perception of well being. Tony was placed in the Lakelands Day Care Hospice, Corby, Northants for two days per week over two years. In almost all cases patients were able to report, by their own ratings, a sizable increase in well being after a series of sessions. Concerns were also worked with, e.g. sleep disturbance, anger, pain, bowel habit disturbance, and patient ratings again reflected great improvements.
